Here is a cute story we like to call:

"Why your customer couldn't find you and how your competitor across town put them in a car today at a big fat gross profit"

There was once a customer who saw your television ad, let's call him Bob. Bob decided that he would check out your website, he happened to be in the market for a car and wanted to see if you had the color he was looking for, and maybe get a price while he was at your website. So, Bob pops on over to Google and types in the name of your store. (About 50% of online shoppers looking for you search for your store name or domain name at 3 major search engines).

Well, unfortunately for you, and Bob, your website didn't come up in Google...but somebody else who was nice enough to use your stores name did. So Bob, your customer, clicks on that listing. Bob sees a page with your name on it and a little link that says "Click Here for a Price Quote". Bob the customer says "Well, at least I can get a quote" and proceeds to fill out the little form on the next page, thinking you will send him a quote.

Now, where does Bob's information go? That's easy! Bob and his information are being sent to the Third party lead provider who is paying the owner of that website to send them customers...even if those customers (Bob) were looking for you. So who gets the lead? Which ever dealership in your town has an agreement to pay for the lead. So your competitor just paid $25 for your customer, called them and made an appointment, and delivered them that same day.

It's a sad story and it's happening thousands of times every day you don't have a marketing campaign that covers your name online. It's happening to you right now, guaranteed. The crazy thing is...you can right this wrong, get more traffic to your website, and get in front of these lead providers for a pittance of what you pay for any other advertising (we could have probably delivered the customer in the story above for about $2...so who got the gold mine and who got the shaft on that deal?).
